As I shared in yesterday’s message, during this time of great uncertainty, the most important thing we can do is to stay focused on what we can control.

While temporary closures are being forced upon dental offices, it may seem like a lot has been taken out of your direct control. And it has.

But your new patient marketing is NOT one of them.

Nobody knows exactly how long these closures will last. But one thing is for sure. When offices do begin to re-open, you need to be out in front of the pack.

There will be plenty of new patients to go around. And the practices who are continuing to work RIGHT NOW on their new patient marketing are the ones who will benefit. And unfortunately, the practices who are sitting on the sidelines right now, will be left behind. That is just the reality of it.

This make me think about the story of two men who were out walking in the woods one day. As they came around a bend, a massive 800-pound grizzly bear stood in their path. One of the men quickly reached down to tighten the laces on his shoes. The other guy looked at him, bewildered, and said “Are you crazy? You can’t outrun a grizzly bear!”. The first guy, as he finished lacing up his shoes, looked up, smiled and replied, “I don’t need to outrun that bear. I just need to outrun you!”

That’s kind of the situation we’re in right now. Every single dental practice out there is staring right into the eyes of that same 800-pound grizzly bear.

It’s time to start lacing up your shoes!

Again, the most important thing we can do right now is to stay focused on what we can control.

While your marketing strategy, execution plan and investment levels may certainly need to change right now…..your ability to stay focused on new patient growth will greatly benefit you in the long run.

There are several things you can be doing right now to position yourself for survival and success as the macro-environment continues to evolve.

Take a moment and focus on those things within your new patient marketing that are still completely within your control. Focus on those things that you can do with little to no investment. I guarantee this is a much more valuable use of your time than worrying about what is beyond your control right now.

And if you need some guidance, or just some encouragement, feel free to reach out for a complimentary consultation. I’d be honored to help you!
